ISOFOR INSULTING STUDY
ISOFOR

ISOFOR ® COMPLIES WITH CAMs

(minimum environmental criteria)

ISOFOR ® is a thermal and acoustic insulant made of expanded urea resin. Due to its own nature, its urea composition and its production process, as well as to the methods of installation, ISOFOR® is not included in the categories of thermal and acoustic insulants identified by the DM 23.06.2022 (CAM Edilizia 2022) point 2.5.7 as dangerous for the environment, that require compliance with the minimum environmental criteria.

ISOFOR ® is not among the insulants expressly mentioned by the DM 23.06.2022 because of its original different environmental performances, and therefore can be chosen by the designer without violating the aforementioned DM; in particular, due to the different nature of this type of insulation, it is possible to safely declare compliance with the criteria referred to by the CAM Edilizia in point 2.5.7 dedicated to thermal and acoustic insulants:

CRITERIA INDICATED IN DM 23.06.22

ISOFOR DECLARATION

c

The thermal insulating materials used for the insulation of the building envelope, excluding, therefore, those used for the insulation of the systems, must possess the CE marking, through the application of a harmonized product standard as insulating material or through an ETA for which the manufacturer can draw up the DoP (declaration of performance) and affix the CE marking. The CE marking requires the declaration of the essential characteristics referred to the basic requirement 6 "energy saving and heat retention". In these cases, the manufacturer indicates in the DoP, the thermal conductivity with declared lambda values λD (or thermal resistance RD). For precoupled products or kits, it is possible to refer to the DoP of the individual thermal insulating materials present or to the DoP of the system as a whole. In the case of CE marking using an ETA, in the transitional period in which an ETA is being issued or the publication of the relevant EAD references for an already issued ETA has not yet taken place in the OJEU, the material or component can be used if the manufacturer produces a formal communication from the TAB (Technical Assessment Body) which certifies the status of the procedure in progress for the issue of the ETA and the performance determined as regards the aforementioned thermal conductivity (or thermal resistance).

ISOFOR© insulation is currently not subject to the CE marking obligation as there is no harmonized product standard for this type of urea insulation and consequently it cannot have a DoP. The Isofor insulation was subjected to assessments of the thermal characteristics following the indications of the UNI-EN-ISO 10456 standard, specifically the hot plate method with guard ring (standard reference UNI EN 12664 and UNI EN 12667).

d

Substances included in the candidate list of substances of very high concern for Authorization (Substances of Very High Concern-SVHC), according to the REACH regulation (Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006), are not added in a concentration higher than 0.1% (weight/weight). Without prejudice to any specific authorizations for use provided for by the same Regulation for the substances included in Annex XIV and specific restrictions provided for in Annex XVII of the Regulation.

As indicated in the SDS sect. 15 "the product does not contain SVHC substances in a percentage higher than 0.1%".

e

They are not produced with blowing agents that cause depletion of the ozone layer (ODP), such as HCFCs.

ISOFOR© expanded urea resin uses ambient compressed air as blowing agent, therefore without ozone depletion potential.

f

They are not manufactured or formulated using lead catalysts when sprayed or in the course of plastic foaming.

ISOFOR© expanded urea resin uses lead-free ISOFOR catalyst.

g

If produced from an expandable polystyrene resin, the blowing agents must be less than 6% of the weight of the finished product.

Expanded urea resin ISOFOR© is not made from expandable polystyrene resin.

h

If made of mineral wool, they comply with Note Q or Note R as per Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008 (CLP) and subsequent amendments.

ISOFOR© expanded urea resin is not made of mineral wool.

i

If they contain one or more of the materials listed in the following table, these materials must contain the minimum quantities of recycled or recovered material or by-products indicated therein, measured by weight, as the sum of the three fractions.

Insulating materials not listed in the table can still be used and a minimum content of one of the three aforementioned fractions is not required for them.

The expanded urea resin ISOFOR© does not contain any of the components referred to in the table of the CAM 23.06.2022 point 2.5.7.i "Isolanti termici e acustici".
